At NTCC we believe these are exciting times for agriculture and for rural America. There has been a resurgence of interest in small-scale and alternative farming. Sustainable and small-scale conventional farming and ranching are of increasing relevance in today’s world of increasing input costs. People are becoming more aware of practicing sustainability in their daily lives.

NTCC has made a significant investment in its sustainable agriculture program, as provided for by the College's Board of Trustees and the Administration. Construction of the new Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Agriculture Complex, concurrent approval and implementation of a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board-approved sustainable agriculture curriculum and the provision of institutional funds to begin development of the Eagle Eye Demonstration Garden are all examples of a strong institutional commitment to the program. NTCC's Agriculture Department works with area educators, youth organizations (more than 1,000 youth per year participate in career and FFA events on the NTCC campus), and citizens to provide training opportunities for those interested in operating small- to medium-sized farms and ranches in a sustainable and profitable manner.

If the opportunity presents itself, please come by and visit our new state-of-the-art facility!
