HABIT:       Soft, glossy foliage, reddish color especially in the spring and fall. Insignificant flowers. Berries ripen in late summer. Native to the Orient.

CULTURE:  Good drainage critical to avoid root rot. Do not box or shear this plant.

USES:       Background, border or accent plant. Can be trimmed into small ornamental tree and does well in containers.

PROBLEMS:    Aphids on new growth, root rot in wet soil. Healthy if planted properly.
