HABIT:  Bright red, pink, orange, or yellow flowers in summer. Bold textured summer color. Red is the most common flower. Some varieties also have red foliage. Plant in spring from transplants after last frost. Plant in midsummer for fall color. Cutting back to stimulate more flowers is not recommended.

CULTURE:  Easy summer color plant in well prepared beds. Dry by hanging upside down in a paper bag. Color will last all winter.

USES:  Low border, dramatic color splashes.

PROBLEMS:  Slugs and snails.
