With all the recent terrible news about dog and cat food, it's a good time to highlight the advantages of the pet food I recommend, Muenster Natural. It’s not just marketing hype that this product is the best. To start with, all the Muenster Natural ingredients come from Texas and midwest suppliers except one. The flax seed is imported from Canada; it is the best quality available. Nothing comes from China.
There are several other reasons why Muenster Natural is the best dry pet food, but the two most important are: 1) the total lack of chemical preservatives, and 2) the presence of natural diatomaceous earth (DE).
One preservative trick the other pet foods use is this. They claim to be natural and have natural preservatives, but if you read the label, they only identify them in the fats, not with the other ingredients in the product. Below is a typical label. Notice that the preservatives are only listed on the one line item - fat. The other ingredients have to be preserved with something. What is it? Muenster Natural does list the other natural preservative ingredients.

The other big deal about Muenster Natural dog and cat food is the addition of natural diatomaceous earth (DE). It can only be claimed to be used as an anti-caking agent, but the approved 2% use for that purpose is the same as I recommend for other benefits. Muenster can’t make these comments, but I can. Natural DE used at 2% of an animal's food intake controls many internal parasites, provides many helpful trace minerals and helps keep teeth clean, but more importantly, it seems to function as a detoxifying agent for the animals. Many people have reported healthier pets with better skin and coats and fewer joint problems.
I learned about the value of DE from thoroughbred horse breeders originally. That was over 20 years ago. Since then we have received reports from hundreds of ranchers, farmers and homeowners about the benefits of natural DE. It is fed by free choice to some animals and mixed with seaweed, humates and sea salt by others. All natural DE is helpful, but my favorite is a fresh water variety that contains a very low level of crystalline silica dioxide. That's what is in Muenster Natural and we know of no other pet foods that currently contain the natural DE. Muenster Natural also has the very best natural DE in the world which comes from the DiaSource company.
