QUESTION: I am working with one of our golf courses experimenting with ways to limit feral hog damage to their greens. Since the hogs are going after soil insects, we were going to try beneficial nematodes and see what happens. Do you have any data or prior experience in golf courses and nematodes? Any other words of wisdom? D.P., Dallas

ANSWER: That's a tough one! I do not have any personal experience with that problem, but the nematodes would certainly be worth trying. Those reporting to me about controlling wild hogs have had to resort to trapping and shooting. I do know that this is one situation where using dry molasses is a bad idea. The hogs apparently have a sweet tooth.
