Ilex opaca × attenuata  ‘Savannah’          (EYE-lex o-PAY-kuh)    

Evergreen         Sun to part shade          Height 15 - 30 feet  Spread 10 - 15 feet    Spacing 8 - 12 feet

 

HABIT:  Moderate upright and pyramidal growth, medium green spiny leaves. Lots of red berries in winter.

CULTURE:        Easy in any well-drained soil. Turns yellow and chlorotic when fertilized with synthetic salt fertilizers.

USES:              Small specimen garden tree, border, or evergreen background.

PROBLEMS:     Few; leaf miners occasionally.

NOTES:            Good small evergreen tree. Is beginning to be used often.
