Soil Detox Update
More questions than ever are coming in about cleaning up contaminated soil. If you or the previous owners of your home or business have used synthetic fertilizers, toxic pesticides or other contaminates, your soil is less than healthy needs to be cleaned up and brought to life. It doesn't matter what the contamination is - heavy metals like arsenic and chromium in treated lumber or creosote in railroad ties; lead and arsenic from iron supplements; pesticides like MSMA, 2,4-D, Sevin, Roundup; or petroleum spills, the solution is basically the same. No - digging the soil out and hauling it off is not the answer. That just moves the problem from one location to another.
Synthetic Fertilizer Used Without Organic Matter - the Most Common Soil Contamination of All
Step #1: Stop the contamination. High-nitrogen, synthetic fertilizers are my primary concern, but the neurotoxic pesticides are a close second. MSMA, for example, is an arsenic compound. Roundup is building up in the soil and showing up in the water stream. The negative data about this product is building rapidly now. Here's one of the latest reports. Weed Killer Causes Animal Shape Changes.
Step # 2: apply the activated charcoal product Biogize-SD. Itís very fine-textured and must be mixed with water to apply. Fine textured humates are the next best choice. Zeolite can be applied in a granular form if the budget allows.
Step # 3: spray and/or drench the problem area with the Garrett Juice solution plus orange oil or D-Limonene at 2 ounces per gallon of mix. Activated charcoal will tie up the contaminants; Garrett Juice and D-Limonene stimulate the microbes to feed on and breakdown the toxins. Liquid molasses is in the Garrett Juice mix but adding additional molasses to the Garrett Juice mixture will greatly help the decontamination process. Adding the microbe product called Bio S.I. will speed up the process.
Garden centers, nurseries, feed stores, hardware stores and mail order houses are unfortunately continuing to sell toxic synthetic products. If they continue that business model, you should pressure them to stop. If they donít stop, maybe they will at least sell the ingredients to my recommended Detox Program.
