comfrey, cone flower, and mint all have something stinging them, usually six inches below new bloom formation and then the top just wilts and dies. Can you give me help with identifying the critter and how to treat it.

If you can not see any type of critter during the day, you may try again at night with a flashlight. Then you may find something of which you can give a description. :)
