I need ideas for a border shrub or tree. It will be on the west and north sides of the property and needs to take full sun. Iam in the blackland east of Austin in the farming country here and the west sun and north wind in the winter are unbearable at times.

What Iam looking for is something to plant along the perimeter of my property that is an evergreen to provide a wind and sun block. It is in the black dirt east of austin and will need to take full sun.

Check out wax myrtle--native evergreen, 10-15', takes sun or shade, fast growing, berries that attract birds. Haven't had mine for too long, but have seen several thriving in this part of Texas.
