I'm starting a series of threads for y'all to list the places you can go to get organic products in your area. If anyone accidentally posts to the wrong city, I'll go ahead and move it to the right place (if I can). If you list a place that specialized in only one or a few organic products, please let us know. For example if a place only sells compost, we need to know not to go there for alfalfa meal or corn gluten meal.

If the numbers of visits to this thread don't warrant leaving this message near the top of the forum, then I'll take the 'sticky' off and let it drift.

I'm starting this series of threads for the bigger cities in Texas. If there is interest in other towns or cities outside of Texas, please start your own thread here and I'll put the sticky on it. If the super administrator wants to move this to a new forum, that might happen, since this is not just a lawns issue. If that happens, I'll let y'all know where to find them.

*Cut and Paste from my previous post*

For anyone interested in price and location, I just purchased the following for my lawn.

Wells Bros. Farm Store
5001 Avenue K
Pano, TX 75074
(972)424-8516

40# Combination Soil Amendment (Corn Meal, Molasses, Wheat Bran) - $15.99

40# Wells Brothers Custom Organic Mix (Compost, Green Sand, Lava Sand) - $5.99

Antidote 3 N 1 8000sf (Beneficial Nematodes) - $18.49

They had what I would consider a very large selection of organics.
In that same area are places that sell large selections of mulch and soil by the cubic yard as well as stone. It's my one stop shopping area :D

There is a great list of ORGANIC SOURCES AND MORE on the Dirt Doctor's website.

New! ORGANIC BUSINESS DIRECTORY http://www.dirtdoctor.com/businesstest.php
Search this business directory for companies that sell organic products and provide organic services in your area.

You can search by city or by business name.

I think it would be helpful to post those businesses that are NOT already on this existing resource.

Wells Bros Farm Store and Calloway's Nursery are two which are not on the list.

Haslet Feed store in Haslet, TX, right off FM 156 has some organic items, including Garret Juice and Greensense products, molasses, ect..

Mikes Garden center off of Hwy 114 in Colleyville/Northlake/Southlake has about the same selection.

I like to see prices of certain products and I would hope this sticky thread would turn into a source for some of the better pricing in the metroplex. I especially like the posts that say "Hey, look what I found at so-and-so for this much"

I like finding out about the bargains and sales.

There is Rhodes on Garland www.beorganic.com and Roach Feed & Seed on Main, I believe. There is also one on 380 in Mckinney west of 75 and one in Frisco on Coit north of 121.

Southland Feed Store on Maple close to Inwood has been helpful to me for advice and organic fertilizer, etc. They also have the added advantage of being a "mom and pop" store instead of a big box retailer.

At R. J. Smelley Dairy I have a very large composting operation going on.
I am trying to make a good name for my product on a small advertising budget.

This would be Shades of Green. I was just in there Friday and they are very helpful. Ground Crew members get 10% off organic products.

This is nice, but prices do change from time to time. Sometimes things are at a sale price, and sometimes they are at an everyday price. Something to keep in mind...

All the Lowe's stores in Texas have an 8 foot bay of nothing but organic products. You can also shop on-line at www.agorganics.com for over 100 products. You have to pay shipping but if that's the only you can get it...
Also, if someone from out of this area wants to get some of the products you know and use that are just not available to them, send 'em to the web site.

Great place to buy bulk compost, mulch, soil mixes, etc.

Much cheaper and better quality than the bagged stuff.

The people are very knowledgeable and friendly too.
