Just recently after the heavy rains, I noted a "streaky" brown area where it appears some of the St. Augustine is either weak or dead. The streaks have grown! The entire yard has been kept well watered and was fertilized about two weeks ago using "Organic Guide." The "affected" area is in a spot where it's hit by hot, late afternoon sun and about three feet from my neighbor's driveway. Could it be chinch bugs? Would appreciate your suggestions and comments. Thanks, Brown thumb

Chinch bugs are rarely a problem if your lawn is watered properly and well maintained. I would bet with all this rain we have had that it is a fungal problem. Try putting some cornmeal down. Horticultural is the best choice. If you would rather something more convenient, get Aunt Jemima's yellow cornmeal. Application rate: 20 lbs. per 1000 square feet.
