HG mentions in his book, the Graceful Oak, a semi-evergreen, underplanted tree. I'm interested in seeing one and possibly planting one in my new home this fall.

Is it a good tree for an old cotton field in Collin County and is it available anywhere in the Metroplex?

Not sure where you can find one- I'll have to look into that.

Offhand I don't think this tree was subject to cotton root rot the was elms and certain fruit trees are.

I'll let you know if I find more.
