| I have aquired some fruit trees with the house I bought. One is a pear, I don't know what variety, but its fruit displays a pretty reddish hue. The other is a granny smith apple. My problem is I don't know when each is ready to harvest. I live in the SW Arlington Kennedale area. Both trees are full of fruit and I hate to let it go to waste. Any help would be appreciated. |

jneff-
I have pears and apples also. Neither is ready now but there are many varieties. You should start to see a color change as the fruit begins to ripen. The fruit will start to "give" when pushed hard with your finger. They will not go bad overnight so you have a lot of time to harvest. Just pull one off from time to time and take a bite out of it. Mark your calendar when you do harvest for next year.
