I visited Bob Bard's (one of the moderators) place this weekend to discuss some of the things he has been doing to improve his pasture, using organic inputs, and to look at his livestock. What pasture improvements has anyone tried and what have been the results? What about shredding a pasture when you don't have grazing animals? Is this good, when do you do it, what about interrupting wildflower seed germination?

Spreading cattle/horse feeds on pasture grass is great for extra nitrogen/proteins and extra organic matter.

Also growing legumes like crimson clover or hairy vetch in the pasture is great for any soil improvement.
