Greetings - I have been watching Dragonflies on our land and reading about how they help reduce the amount of mosquitos, among other flying insects. I know it may be late in the season, but I was hoping to find some information on where Dragonfly eggs might be purchased. If not for this year, then for next.

I’ve been to a few popular sites, but no egg purchase clues. Any information someone could provide, along with general dragonfly info, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much!

The best insurance that dragonflies will be around is to have a stream or pond near you where they can multiply. We have lots of dragonflies on this place, and they do eat many little flying bugs, but there are still plenty of mosquitoes. I've never heard of anyone buying the eggs, and I would suppose that would be difficult to do since they spend their egg and larval stage in the water. Sticking to organic methods in the garden will help, and avoiding contamination of pond and stream water will keep their breeding grounds good. Since I've gone organic, I have noticed a hefty increase in the dragonfly population on this place and it's wonderful.
