| Tony, I am so glad you corrected the sugar/water ratio! Hummingbirds can get drunk, or worse, on too much sugar. Ever seen one that got greedy on Mimosa flowers? Wonderful advice about changing out the sugar water and washing the feeders, too. If large birds can develope severe problems from old seed that has rotted in the feeders, one can only imagine how little it would take to hurt the little hummers. Just as a side note, 1 part sugar to 8 parts water for butterflies. |

Julie-
I'm glad to do it. You can probably sence I have a serious attachment to these little flying jewels. No, I haven't observed a hummer tanked up on mimosa. I will keep an eye out for this. I would like to have a mimosa tree or two but I don't think they are sold anywhere. I know they are a bad tree for many reasons but I have 10 acres and my wife loves the flowers.
