| My Japanese Maple is about to die. The leaves have holes in them and the edges appear to have something eating them. After a while they dry and shrivel up and fall off. The tree is in full afternoon sun about 4 hours. I was told that it needed more water so I soak the ground well regularly. Can't see any bugs unless they coud be out at night only. I need HELP, this is a beautiful tree and I don't want to loose it. :( |

Your tree is getting way too much sun.
Usually Japanese maples in north Texas should be planted in partial shade or filtered sun. IF they get four hours of sun, it should be morning sun (before 10 or 11) and not four hours of afternoon sun. If it's not dead yet, move it.

These trees are gorgeous but do not like much sun at all around here.
The ones I see that seem to do best grow in near-full shade. They like growing under larger trees. |

| have you had particualy strong winds recently ?this can be aproblem with certain types of maples.if this is a factor they should grow back-or so i was informed. |
