Jim, I do not know of anything that you can put down to slow nut grass down for any extended time. Nut grass will grow up through asphalt and high school track surfaces so I don't think there is any good way of stoping it.

Sorry

I put in my first above ground pool two years ago. I had bermuda grass and other weeds growing there. After I completely got rid of all the grass by digging it out, I laid down some thick landscape weed block under the pool. Early this year, my neighbor decided I needed a new pool (he was cutting down a tree and part of it fell on our fence and my pool). When I took the old pool down, I was surprised that there wasn't any nut grass (or anything for that matter) growing under it.

My replacement pool is a higher quality pool and when I put it up this year, I decided to try something different. I put down this roll of plastic like stuff that is at least 30 millimeters thick and fairly stiff. The people that sold me this stuff said that they recommend this stuff over nut grass preventer because they think it works better. Of course, there is no guarantee but I would be surprised if anything could grow through this stuff. I won't know for sure until it is time to replace the liner or take the pool down, though. I don't think anything can completely prevent nutgrass but I did everything I could to prevent it. Good luck to you.
