I have found a tree in our back pasture that I have been unable to identify. It is about 15-20 ft. tall and has clusters of small (grape size), green(turning red) berries(?) on it. These berries(?) have a large seed in them and the inside resembles that of a peach(yellowish orange). It is in the same area where my mustang grapes and wild plums grow. Any ideas would be great. Not sure where else to look.
Thanks!!! |

JoLynne:
Shucks, the only thing that come to mind is a China Berry tree.
What is stumping me is 'turning red'. Final Fall color is more Yellow.
Next time you run to town, take a sample with you and ask around. Don't try Wal-Mart. |

China Berry is the first thing that occured to me as well. However, like Zipper I've only ever seen ones whose berries turn sort of an orange-gold colour. But that doesn't mean it's not some variety of the same tree.
Take a sample to North Haven Gardens, Shades of Green, or another reputable nursery. |
