We use corn meal to treat several large lakes for clients and have never had a fish kill. We use it at 150 lbs per surface acrea and it works within 10 days to clear up the filimentatious algea. It normally requires 4-6 treatments a year to keep a pond clear.

| Caution! Michael is dead on about the cornmeal but you have to be careful and not apply it too thickly or you will cause oxygen deprevation in the water from the dead plants and kill your fish. My sister uses it to control algae in her farm's tanks and it works beautifully but they overdid it in one tank and had a fish kill. Be careful but use it, it's way better than any alternatives. |
