Jatropha and Biodiesel
We are setting up a biodiesel plant in the Dallas area and would like to second source our vegetable oil using a crop grown in Texas. I am led to believe that the plant Jatropha Curas is native to south Texas and we would like to see the oil seed being cultivated for use as a biofuel.
Does anyone on this board know how to grow the Jatropha bush or have any experience with it here in Texas?

Can anyone explain biodiesel and prove to me that we need biodiesel. We have been lied to concerning ethanol in the gasoline. It takes more energy to make ethanol than to import energy from middle east or any where else and it causes air polution - ozone.
Infact this whole energy issue is messed up. We have more energy reserves than our grand children can use and yet we are held hostage by other countries. This makes no sense!
Seventy five % percent of air polution in metroplex is caused by industry and yet auto's are blamed for polution. This makes no sense.
DFW airport makes large % of polution and yet cars get blamed. This makes no sense
New cars make almost no polution. It is older cars that produce most of the 25% polution, but if we take these off the road there owners will have to go on welfare and/or unemployment. This makes no sense. If we wait and do nothing the new cars get better and the older ones finally fade off in to the sunset and polution gets better.
Now again, are we going to get lied to about biodiesel and its benefits?

Poor guy didn't realize he would get blasted like that!
I agree with you. I often wonder how much of what is told to us is false. |
