I would love to hear different success stories growing deador cedar, dawn redwood and other conifers in Lucas, Allen, and McKinney, Texas areas.
I'm looking for good sources for bare root trees, any recommendations would be appreciated.
Has any one tried to grow a Giant Sequoia or a Coastal Redwood in these parts of north central Texas?
Thanks! : ) |

I was wondering about the Sequoia and Redwood myself. I figure, since they're far from native, there's every chance they'll be awful here but then again, all good naturalized and healthy imports had to start somewhere. Japanese maple sure aren't native but do great in nice shady spots.
Some conifers do great here, some not so much. I'll check my list later about those. If you can get a hold of Howard's book Plants for Texas or even better the new Texas Trees book, that'll likely answer your question. |

I just got the new tree book today. Enjoying it. Also got the "Organic Manual". Will have to do research for more good ones. (that would be a good thread, think I will start that.)
