I checked all the topics here and while I did see several posts about wasps, etc, I did not see anything that addressed my issue. I have a nest of one of the above (not sue which) living in the middle of my compost pile. I have a cage type structure with a column in the middle for air flow (I received this after taking the master composter class). This pile is in a location I can't mix regularly so it's a cold pile. The critters have flown dow the chute and are living in the bottom which I was unaware of until I watered it recently and they all flew out. I really don't want to kill them but I can't have them there and I don't think I can move the nest. Suggestions, please??? Thank you very much.

Cass-
You can turn the pile at night, they will not come out when it is dark. Also, if you don't want to turn the pile you can sprinkle some compost tea or molasses over the pile and water it in at night. That will hasten the breakdown of the pile. It may take until winter to be able to use this pile without disturbing or getting disturbed by the bees/wasps.
