We are moving to east Texas and need some fast growing trees and/or shrubs to block some views from our property. A friend of a friend suggested either cherry laurel or cedar. Neither of us is familiar with cherry laurel, and don't know the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other.
We would appreciate your input and any other suggestions you might have.

The Shantung Maple grows even better in east Texas than it does here, and that says a lot!
Have you bought a copy of "Texas Trees" by Howard Garrett? It would be well worth your investment! :) |

| Look into wax myrtle--evergreen, quick growing, has berries for the birds. |
