We are moving to east Texas and need some fast growing trees and/or shrubs to block some views from our property. A friend of a friend suggested either cherry laurel or cedar. Neither of us is familiar with cherry laurel, and don't know the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other.

We would appreciate your input and any other suggestions you might have.

:D

The Shantung Maple grows even better in east Texas than it does here, and that says a lot!
Have you bought a copy of "Texas Trees" by Howard Garrett? It would be well worth your investment! :)

Look into wax myrtle--evergreen, quick growing, has berries for the birds.
