| I have a Globe Willow which has dropped almost all its leaves. I thought it was heat stressed so I gave it a good soak. I was inspecting the tree 2 days ago and I noticed a line of sap coming down the trunk. It was bubbling out of a small hole and had 4 large beetle looking bugs lapping it up. I squashed them and cut a small section out which apparently had larvae growing in it. I applied a borer poison (all I could think of at the time) to the area and yesterday I didnt see any more bugs but the sap was still bubbling out of the hole. What should be my next step? Will Tree Trunk Goop stop the sap flow? Should I spray the whole tree with something? |

I'd go with the goop on the wound, sick tree treatment, and as soon as it cools off, start foilar feeding with something that has seaweed in it.
Keep in mind willow are not at their healties in this area, but managed well, they cn do alright. |

| The sap is still bubbling out of the limb. Should I do something to stop the flow? |

Not really. That's it's way of trying to clean the wound. Just like our blood.
Clean the wound with peroxide and then use tree trunk goop on it. Make a decent batch of the stuff so that you can reapply- as needed. |

| I'm getting a little concerned now. Every time I apply Tree trunk Goop the sap just oozes thru it and down the trunk again.The large green beetles are always feeding on the sap. Could there be larvae inside the limb causing the sap to ooze out? Today I wrapped some weedblock fabric around the area hoping it would stop the flow. Help! |

I'd spray the area around it with a strong dose of garlic pepper tea, including the sap runoff. That should discourage the green beetles.
Watch and wait after that to see when the sap stops. When it does, resume using goop on it for a while until it appears to be healing over. |
