I have two pecan trees which I purchased and planted about 3 years ago. I have 2 problems. They are loaded with pecans but something is eating the leaves - and every year this happens. Now one of the pecan trees appears to be dying. This spring it leafed out nicely, then one branch appeared to die. Now the other side appears as if its dying as well. Yet I have leaves and branches coming out of the bottom. What am I doing wrong. They are getting water - I fertilized in the spring - I'm at a loss as to what is eating them up!! I do have huge pecans though. Anyone have any clues?

It would really help to know where it is you live. Trees that bear the larger pecans do not do so well where I live, in the DFW (Texas) area. Native plants and trees do better wherever you are. Hybrids that do well here are "Kanza" and "Caddo". Check out the "Fruit and Pecan Tree Program":

The most common pecan tree pests can be controlled with the BOP:
