I have recently moved to Franklin, TN from Dallas (Flower Mound). We are in a brand new house that needs some work establishing new landscaping. I have listened to the Dirt Doc for a few years and TRY to be organic as much as I can. However, I am having a hard time finding any organic products in the middle Tennessee (Nashville) area. Does anyone know of any national or local manufacturers in this area?

A big problem in this area is brown patch, due to the high moisture content in fescue; I think our new vet even mentioned "hoof rot" or (something like that) that cows sometimes get from standing in the wet grass. I do have a dog that I want to protect. I would think cornmeal would help that, but again I can't find anything like that here!

Any help would be appreciated!

Frankie:
Welcome to the Dirt Doctor Forum and sorry to loose a fellow Texan. Hope you enjoyed the stay. Come back when you can.

I've moved your post from Meet and Greet to Lawn Care as I believe you'll get more responces there.

Try to find a Farm and Ranch Feed Store in your area. They should have the whole ground corn meal for fungus control. You might want to make another post at the Pet forum regarding your pets.

I'd like to suggest that you add some data to your Profile and Signature to your posts, so that we know your question is for the Tenn. area.

Thanks for sending us the referral, Zip!

Find a horse stable and ask them there where they get their feed. Feed stores are everywhere. I live deep inside the San Antonio city limits and I have two feed stores within a mile. The horse stable likely will guide you out into the country to a really good feed MILL rather than just a feed store. If you find a mill, they should grind anything you want to any consistancy you want. With all the distilleries around there, corn should be plentiful.

Frankie!

I just moved to Franklin, TN too from Fort Worth where I was a listener of Howard's and shopped at the numerous organic nurseries in the area.! My wife and I just bought a house on South Margin street downtown! I tried to find organic products everywhere in this area (Nashville, Williamson County, Davidson County)...

I think I have a lead for you. There is a company in Franklin called "All Natural Lawn Services" (367-9933.) The good news is that they claim to specialize in 100% organic lawn and garden care. The bad news is that they don't have a retail establishment yet, they operate out of there home. There services are lawn and garden care, but I asked them if they would be willing to sell me some of their products (as opposed to them maintaining my lawn for me and they said they would. They are going to send me a product list in the next week or so!

Hey - would you be interested in getting together to talk organic Tennessee gardens for Texas transplants sometime?
