Help I need Christmas Cacti help

My moms cactus I am babysitting has just wilted and the normally full segments are starting to wrinkle. I don't know if this is from too much water or not enough. My other two are fine. Treat them the same.

Can anyone advise??? I am deparate for help I would hate to loose this one it is the orignal of my two. :(

Usually when these type plants wilt, it is due to the lack of water (people tend to forget about watering succulants). It seems from what you are saying that too much water and mayby the lack of sun light is the problem. A moisture meter (very cheap at lowes or home depot) is a good tool to measure moisture. Let the soil get dry before watering. Also, the type of pot can cause a problem, plastic pots tend to keep soil moist & do not breathe properly. The wrong type of soil can make a problem (peat for instance; no good!). If you overwatered, the roots may be sick or dead. Check the moisture and if wet, put the plant in at least 1/2 to 3/4 day sunlight to see if that helps. You can remove the plant from the pot and cut it at an area above the roots that is green and let it dry for 2-3 days. You can do this for any of the segmented parts of the plant (good way to get babies). Replant in a well draining mixture that has no peat and water with liquid seaweed or garrett juice. Lava sand in the soil works well with succulents. Mayby others will respond with more help.
