I recently bought my first home and upon buying the home I noticed the landscaping was built up around the home. Being an older home my fears were confirmed the build up is causing the water to drain toward my house and rotting my box sill (may be misspelled sorry) and hence had to be replaced in places. After speaking with a couple of people the only solutions I got were just dig around the house and give the water some place to go. Which is fine and dandy but the next time it rains it build up just fills in where I dug out. ANY SUGGESTIONS some type of really small/thin retainage wall sortof thing? then if I can find something like that what can I do to keep the drainage flowing? :?: :?: :?:

After a search on google, I found out what a box sill is. If you have dirt above your foundation you will have to get it away, and it needs to be leveled off properly for drainage. I would guess the first thing that needs to be done is to get the dirt away from the wood. You might get a professional to come out to look at it.
