New member from Carrollton

Hi, my name is Heather. I purchased a house in Carrollton about 3 years ago and have slowly been turning it into a true garden home. I am trying to go all organic, and recently went so far as to hand pick hundreds of aphids off of my rose bushes this spring. Unfortunately I live under the strict rules of a homeowners association who applies inorganic fertilizer to my yard several times during the year. As I am one to go about without shoes, I can asure you I was livid :evil: when I realized that the bottom of my feet (and my white poodle) were yellow after getting the mail, and will be asking them to skip my yard in the future. I posted a question about plants to go between flagstones in my new courtyard, so if any of you have suggestions please reply. It's in the general gardening and landscape forum. I look forward to being a part of this great gardening community.

Welcome aboard Heather, Good to hear we have another organic person to add to the list. It is growing daily. At this rate maybe we can get everyone converted. Please convence them not to spray chemicals to any yards. We must educate them that organic is the only way to live. Plus organics are not toxic like the chemicals are.

I'm no Attorney but I'm willing to bet you could build a reasonable request to the Association to stop aplying chemicals to your lawn. There is plenty of download information at this site to use to show them why you object for health reasons to both you and your pets. Just tell them you are chemical sensitive, even if you just object to being exposed.

A proposed position to take would be a compromise. "Let me do it my way and if my lawn does not match the rest...then..." Enought residents can change any of the rules. Just ask that you be allowed to try.
