Someone once said, "Don't plant a 25 foot vine in three feet of space."
Too true! My cousin has moved into a house where the previous owner obviously never heard this advice.
How do we get rid of asian jasmine? Do we need to dig up the vine, roots and all?
Thanks in advance for all your help. |

I'd really love to know what to do with this stuff. I just hate having to trim it back every week.
Thanks in advance,

As you can see, this is a vigorous, woody vine. Spraying it with vinegar will not work well and will still leave a considerable amount of material that will have to be cleaned up. I would use a grub hoe (short handle, heavy metal blade on one end, pick or axe like on the other) to remove it completely. It will go fast once you've mastered the hoe. Careful if you are around the bases of trees, the hoe will nick the big roots and cause damage to the tree.

That's what I was afraid of. No trees to worry about, it's right by my pool.
Will I have to get every single root out to keep this stuff from coming back? I'm guessing yes on this too, though.
Thanks |

If you hit it hard with the hoe any leftover new shoots can be sprayed with the vinegar mix. Besides, the ground will be nicely cultivated after hoeing, you will be able to pull any new shoots out easily.
