I just moved to a new home and want to go organic with this one. I need to put down some winterizer (I think) and something to keep the broadleaf weeds down in the spring and winter. Any ideas?

Using CORN GLUTEN MEAL should take care of both items at once! Remember, it acts as a pre-emergant for weeds & grass so don't spread grass seed for the winter. I believe the spread rate is 20# per 1,000 sq. ft.

I have bad news and good news about corn GLUTEN meal. The bad news is that it works best as a preemergent at 40 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Talk about expensive!!

The good news is that it is a bang-up fertilizer at even 10 pounds per 1,000 square feet. So by using that one product today, you will be a mile ahead in the spring.

Don't use it anywhere where you want wildflowers to grow. If it works right, it will keep all the fall seeds from sprouting, which many wild flowers sprout now.

Where do you get your information that corn gluten needs to be spread at 40# per 1,000 sq. ft. for the best control? Are you saying that 20# is OK but 40# is the best? Why??
