Fall pre-emergent and yearly regimen

Last week I put down a light application of CGM in order to prevent cool season weeds on in my st. augustine lawn. Was this too late to be effective as such?

One of the issues I've been having with the organic program is knowing exactly when to do what. There seems to be some variance in the general guidelines one can piece together from various sources here and elsewhere as to the "what and when". Unfortunately I'm the type of person that needs a structured regimen in order to keep from entering freakout crazy mode :shock: which has led to me perhaps over doing my amendment application routines in the past. In an effort to streamline the process and make it easier for my type A personality I'm outlining a yearly schedule for myself. I'd appreciate any and all feedback on it.

Here's the initial outline of the amendment regimen I plan to follow this coming year for general lawn care.

mid to late February

CGM - for pre-emergent/early fertilization

late March

Mechanical aeration - I still have compaction and water retention issues
Lava Sand - water retention/aeration
Dry humate - for greening up the lawn
Bioform Dry Fertilizer

early June

Agricultural corn meal - for fertilization/general health of turf
Texas Green Sand - for greening things up during the hot months

July

CGM - for pre-emergent/fertilization

early October

Bioform Dry - for final fertilization
CGM - for pre-emergent/fertilization

I am in a rush, but have time to comment on the CGM:

CGM in mid-Sept = control of late winter, early spring weeds.

CGM in mid-Feb = control of summer, early fall weeds.

And make sure it is the powder, and not the granules -- they do not dissolve well, even after a heavy rain, so are not as effective.

Thanks for the feedback Bill. I'll adjust the CGM applications accordingly, although it appears I'm out of luck for this Fall's application. At least I can be happy about the fertilization aspects of it for now. Additionally, I've re-thought the yearly Texas green sand application since it apparently takes quite a while to break down. I'll substitute humate for the early June green-up amendment unless otherwise advised.
