I had a caller ask about treating her yard where she had a puppy with Parvo. The vet told her to use bleach. What is up with that? There has got to be a better way to go about this. I will be calling my holistic vet, but if anyone out there has had experience with such a thing, I would sure like to know. Thanks!

How about H2O2 and/or compost or both.

In my experience, bleach and sunshine are the recommended treatment for many types of virus, parvo included. These viruses can survive in the soil as well as infected articles such as bedding, utensils, toys. It does NOT take a very strong solution of bleach to kill the viruse. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will also kill the virus.
