Can anyone tell me the name of the product that construction sites use when they install new grass? I'm looking for that stuff that comes in big rolls and is green. It looks like some kind of mesh and must contain grass seed. If anyone knows the name of this and where you can get it, I would appreciate you letting me know.

Thanks much.

I am not familiar with the product, but there may be a better way to do what you are needing. What are you trying to do?

I have a yard that is basically nothing but weeds. We finally gave up and tilled it up. Now I would like to put grass back down, but I have a big yard and sod is very expensive. I thought if we used the roll out grass seed mats, it would keep the birds from eating the grass seed and make the job a lot easier. I'm trying to find the grass seed mats now.

Thank you.

I would not recommend using any type of "landscape fabric". I would suggest sodding around the perimeter of the house if the budget allows (you could have a space about 18" wide around the house with just gravel since it is hard to reach with a mower. The gravel should be at least 4" deep so it can drain well). Then from there on out about 4 feet or so, plant sod. Outward from that you could plant your seed. What seed will you plant? Any shade or all sun?
