I just printed out all of Howard's recipes and am getting ready to do some brewin' :D

The compost tea recipe calls for 5-15 gallon bucket. If I make 5 gallons of this, do I need to use it all at once or will it "keep"? And if it keeps, how best to store it? Also, I don't have any manure in my compost - is this going to affect the effectiveness of the tea?

The garlic pepper tea: is this primarily for insect control? My roses are presently being chomped on & I'd like to have a *few* blossoms left. Again, the recipe seems to be for a lot more than I need for a single application & if I can, how do I store the concentrate?

Thanks!

Another question: the Garrett juice calls for 1oz molassas. What kind of molasses? Liquid, dried? Can I use the grocery store kind?

Anything but dried. The dried stuff is dried onto chipped corn cobs or rice hulls. It does not go back into solution when wet.

Gotcha.

Still would like to know what the shelf life of this stuff is and how best to store what I don't use in a single application. Would milk jugs work OK?

I don't know what the shelf life of home brews is but I have had various mixes stored for 6 months or so with no real problem. The tea mixes can get clumps in them after awhile. Before using, always shake well & strain if spraying product. One note of caution; leave lids on loose. If you don't, you can burst container from the pressure that builds up. Milk jugs are OK but heavier bottles like 5-liter olive oil bottles hold up much better.

Thanks!
Makes perfect sense about the lids, but I certainly wouldn't have thought about it till something went KABOOM! :lol
