I was told if I cut back my Salvia Gregg in June it would promote more flowers. Is this recommended?

ABSOLUTELY..........AFTER MY FIRST BLOOMS START TO FADE, I CUT BACK ABOUT 1/4TH OF THE PLANT. WA-LA NEW BLOOMS, AND THE HUMMINGBIRDS LOVE THEM.........AND I DO THIS ALL THRU THE SEASON.
