Hello. Can I put sourdough starter on my compost? It's gone bad and I need to get rid of it. It's flour, water, milk, that's yeasty.
Thanks much,
Julie

There is no reason not to put sourdough starter in the compost heap..the "nasty" little beasties will find good stuff in there...and it will improve their disposition. you may heat up the pile quite nicely! I find that the compost bin is a great place to put all the science experiments I find in the refrigerator..as long as it is not meat or dairy, the moldy oldies happily find their place! Compost piles are a good place to dispose of mealy cereals, flour, and old tortillas...

Great! I'll dump it out there then. Thanks for your help!
