My DH and I are going organic. I've just received three of the Dirt Doctor's books and I'm in the process of learning, so hope y'all don't mind the newbie questions I'll be asking from time to time. :)

A question I've got right now is about Miracle Gro. I know it's not organic, but is it all that harmful to the environment and to birds?

What's gotten us to go organic is that the birds - I finally realized what harsh chemicals do to them - not to mention everyone else (especially children).

Thanks in advance - more questions to come.

Welcome, newbie! We love to help new converts, so ask away!

Just noticed you were in Denton and thought I'd recommend you drive up to Sanger and visit Mike Dobrolovsky at the Organic Depot on the downtown square. He's very knowledgeable and has most of the products you might want in your quest for organic freedom.

Mike is very knowledgeable and keeps a good selection of books, seeds and seedlings too. It's worth the trip, and for you it's a short one.

Kathe....THANK YOU, thank you, thank you! :)

You saved me some time in trying to find an organic store. I'll definitely check it out. I appreciate the help. :D

You are so very welcome. And while you're there you can pick up a copy of Equine Times. I produce a section called the Natural News in there and Mike writes articles for it, the most recent one for natural mosquito control. There are other contributors who will soon be adding herb knowledge, etc. to the paper so you can get it each time you visit.

Be careful what you ask Mike...he knows so much he'll talk your ear off! But you'll learn an awful lot, so plan to spend time when you go! But then, that's me, too. Once you get me started it's hard to shut me up! Argh! I'm telling tales on myself and cohorts. 'Nuff said.
Kathe
