|
|
I've recently put about 4 inches of freshly-chipped tree trimmings on my 80 X 20 ft garden. I know that fresh mulch can rob nitrogen from the soil. Since corn is a heavy feeder, should I supplementally feed the corn with something like blood meal?
I regularly fertilize the entire garden with foliar feeding. Is that enough nutrition for the plants or should I feed more ?
Thanks,

| In my experience, mulching on top of the ground does not cause leaching of nitrogen from the soil, but mixing wood chips in with the soil does. If it's just piled on top, I wouldn't worry too much. |

| I agree w/dragonfly on the mulch. Along with your foliar spray you should also drench the soil with you mix. It works great. |
