I planted three live oaks in late March and they were all doing really well. Recently one of them had all its leves turn brown and begin to fall off. I had been watering it twice per day for about the last two weeks as I had also just seed our lawn and was trying to keep the soil moist for the grass. The trees have bubblers on them and were getting about 30 gal. per day. I have pulled away extra soil and compost from the base of the trunks(it is a twin or double) and I have also areated all around the trees. Our soil is tight black clay around the Abilene, Texas area and I am afraid that I may have drowned the trees. Any suggestions on how I might possibly save the trees or is it too late? :(
