Rotting spots on tomatoes

In the spring the first tomatoes had blossom rot, we put out magnesium(epsom salt) could this be the cause of the spots now. the spots start out looking like blisters and just keep getting bigger.

Not sure ...where did you read that magnesium is what you use for blossom end rot? I've always read that it's caused by a great fluctuation in moisture in the soil...like this spring when we had weeks of rain then it got very hot and dry.

I read it in a book and I don't remember which one. It said to dig the hole deeper than the plants and mix 2 tablespoons of epsom salts in the dirt then put your plants in the hole up to the last two leaves. We had already planted so we just sprinkled the epsom salt on the ground and watered it in. :?: The blossom end rot stopped but the blisters started.

I am always reading dirt doctor, yankee magazine, readers digest and the the paper if I see something that looks interesting.

Are you totally organic? Have you foilar fed them with Fish/Seaweed emulsion or Garrett Juice? I've never heard about blisters but I would make sure you're not overwatering, make sure they're mulched well and properly fed.

Not totally organice but mostly so. A friend of mine told me that in Oklahoma they use old hay to mulch with. I have been using cypress mulch in my flower beds but have not mulched the tomatoes. :oops:
