I was recently told that I should tie up the leaves of my broccoli plant. In reading online I only found one mention of this practice and it was about cauliflower. I live in western Massachusetts. Any help or info re: this issue would be appreciated. The crowns are already forming. Thanks

Can't say that I ever heard of tying up the leaves on broccoli. But on cauliflower you are bending the leaves over the head to protect it from the sun, although there are self blanching varieties(cauliflower).
Seeing as you want the broccoli to grow green why would you cover it.
