I've been growing a jalopeno plant for the first time and have been very successful with a pepper already growing and a few more on the way. The problem is I'm not too familar with this type of pepper and I don't know how to tell if it is ripe or not. Can anyone please tell me what I should be looking for in a ripe jalopeno pepper?

You can pick them at any time and at any size. Usually, when they're about 2" or 3" is when I pick mine. If you leave them on the plant long enough, they will eventually turn red. Mine seem to get hotter, the longer I leave them unpicked. Kent

I always heard that if you lift up on the pepper, it will snap off when it's ripe. I usually wait until that happens (unless I need one for a recipe).
