Table salt is NaCl (sodium and chlorine).
However Na and Cl are listed as beneficial trace elements for all plants, when used in proper proportions.
I have read that if Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is added to compost tea recipes, the extra magnesium and sulfur, gets mixed with the humus and the beneficial microbes, so that Mg, S, Na, Cl, Ca, P, K, and other nutrients get buffered and balanced in proper proportions and levels, so that high saline soils can still grow many crops anyway. |
