:!: What are some major bands of plant feeders? Like Miracle Grow, etc... please i need more for my science project.

What kind of science project are you doing? Are you studying the effects of synthetic vs organic fertilizers? Where do you live?

:) Hi there! I wish I could think of the one that is my favorite!!! Oh, it is Shultz and it comes in a small bottle with a dropper, very good one!

Also, Ferti-lome makes a wonderful product which I use about once monthly and it is called Blooming & Rooting Soluble Plant Food. It is a blue powder that mixes easily with water and is applied directly to the topsoil of the plant which is being fed. You can easily see a dramatic improvement in healthy appearance, blooms, and overall color within a few days of feeding with this product!

Anybody remember this is an ORGANIC gardening site? :shock:
Thanks for your helpfulness, oceanblue, but the liquid fertilizers organic gardeners use are never BLUE.

Let's go back to Bioform Dry, Sustane, Texas Tee, Maestro Gro, Ladybug, Gardenville, Bluebonnet, Nature's Way, Enviromate and any of the other many fine organic fertilizers out there. Nothing that is BLUE OR BRIGHT GREEN OR YELLOW applies here (except sulfur, of course) as a good fertilizer.

The problem with synthetic fertilizers? They are not well rounded, provide a narrow range of chemical nutrition, wash out of the soil and into the water system, and must be replaced on a regular basis - like once a month. Organic fertilizers are only applied 2 to 4 times per year and they IMPROVE THE SOIL, making it easier for the plants to utilize the nutrients they provide. Would your body get by well on vitamin supplements and nutrition bars forever? NO! And neither do plants with synthetic fertilzers.

Thank you Kathe for getting this string back on track.
Remember that you are improving the soil, with organics, like Kathe says so the plants can utilize the nutrients from the soil. The synethic fertilizers do nothing to improve the soil for the plants.

Excellent fertilizer is a good blend of Cottonseed Meal, Alfalfa Meal, Kelp, Bone Meal, blood meal, sulphur. There are also foliar fertilizers like Fish Emulsion that are sprayed right onto the leaves of the plants or grass..

If one has lousy soil one will have spindly, unhealthy plants. The soil is the key. Chemicals deplete the soil, get into ground water and contaminate our water supply and deplete the wildlife. Chemical fertilizers have done a great deal of harm to our water, soil, environment and foods we eat.

Building the soil up with organic materials will build a healthy, black, nutrient rich soil AND grow healthy beautiful plants that attract wildlife such as caterpillars to grow into beautiful butterflies (which are becoming scarce); Hummingbirds, bees for polinating.
