I'm going w/ raised bed gardens this coming year. But do "treated" timbers" or railroad ties leach anything into the soil that is harmful?

Is there evidence of this if so?

In my experience all woods rot quickly when kept moist such as in a raised bed, treated or not, except for railroad ties which are treated with extreamely toxic stuff that leaches easily. For me using a denser softwood such as douglas fir or larch untreated with anything works well. I choose a #1 or #2 construction grade and accept the fact that it won't last forever, though you'll be suprised at how long it does last.
