Does anyone know how to control KR Bluestem. This stuff has taken over my "yard" (5 acres). I have to mow it 2-3 times just to get it looking decent. It seems to choking out the bermuda even.

Thanks

Budreaux,

KR Bluestem is commonly found in lawns that are not maintained with irrigation or fertilizers well. I find it mostly in parkways along the street where the lawn gets the least amount of irrigation. Once irrigation is improved and the fertilization program is improved the more desirable turf begins to do better in those areas. The problem is that KR Bluestem creates such a thick carpet that other grasses have a tough time penetrating the infested area. Physically tearing up the KR Bluestem is needed to push it out. You have 5 acres so you have your work cut out for you.
