These are the Web sites for a couple of operations that offer apprenticeships in organic farming:

http://www.farmschool.org/html/practical_farm.html

http://www.hillandhollowfarm.com/intern.html

More information about organic farming opportunities is available here:

http://www.internships.ncat.org/

http://www.wwoofusa.org/

These two organizations purportedly offer internship-type programs, but I didn't see information about them straight away when I looked:

http://www.accokeek.org/

http://www.naropa.edu/

An organic apprenticeship would make a great holiday gift for that harpy stranger masquerading as a spouse

Joel Saltin at Polyface Farm in Virginia has internships also. They last two years. Joel says the first 6 months he loses money on his interns, the second 6 months he breaks even and the last year he see some profit from their work. Joel is credited for renewing the sustainable farm model. He holds two 2-day seminars each year and both fill quickly.
