wool rugs and organic moth control

I am curious if anyone has any idea of what a person might spray on wool rugs to prevent moth. (Oriental wool rug)

I have heard Howard mention the plant oils. I have heard lavender deters moths, but not sure what or how I would get it onto a rug.

I don't want to damage the rug, but I also want to try and deter any damage.

Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks, Sue
